Academic Fund

Academic Fund

When the orphans leave school their need for support does not stop.  To realise their dreams, many of the children will need to go on to high school, college or university.  We will also place some students in privately run schools where appropriate.

Village of Hope and Grace have seen the difference that a college education has made in the lives of a number of our children. We want to continue to encourage our children to fulfil their potential, but the move to higher education is significantly more expensive than primary and government secondary education. This is because college fees are significantly higher than government school fees, and attending college involves moving from the village to a town or city and renting a room. College expenses are also much higher. The VHG Academic Fund was started to allow more students to access further education.

If you would like to give to the Academic Fund. please contact us or use the standing order form.

Thank you

So how much does it cost?

For a student to go to college the cost can reach about £1,000 per year. This is typically made up as follows:

  • £500 College fees
  • £100 Accommodation
  • £250 Food
  • £50   Transport
  • £100 Placement
  • £50   College equipment

VHG are now supporting 12 young people at college or university.

Laptops for college

Village of Hope and Grace is helping the students by providing HGAT with laptops to loan to the students, so they can do their best in their studies. We have provided 10 laptops so far.
